Default Need help with my 2000 vw Jetta!

Hello i just bought my 2000 vw Jetta 2.0 and ive been driving it for about a month now until problems started happening. When i had bought the car, The key fob given to me wasnt working and falling apart. So a friend had given me the plastic shell to a spare key fob that he had and i switched my chip into the new fob and bought batteries to see if it would work! turns out it didnt not... Now everytime i try and start my car it starts up for maybe 1 second the dies out! my Check engine light, Battery light and a Car with a key light is on! none of these lights were ever on before i messed with the key. Since then i have checked all my fuses, The fuel pump, Battery, and My catalytic converter! I am almost sure my immobilizer is on but i dont know what to do next! Can anyone help me?

I would have guessed that as they aren't easy to change over.

If I were you I would think about getting a new spare key cut and programmed because if anything happens to the one key you have you'll be stuffed. But you will need the SKC before you can programme a new key.

Then I guess you may have to change the key fob for starting your car. It is the only way. Though this is not cheap but yes it is worth to buy. So I think you should buy it at any cost.
