Default Idling problem

So I finally got around to charging my 98 jetta 2.0 liter 5 speed. Been dead for about 8 months and unfortunately a bit neglected. New battery works fine. Added oil and Supreme gas. Starts fine and runs ok. I gassed it lightly and it sounds fine, but when I take my foot completely off the gas it doesn't maintain an idle. Is an adjustment required or could it just need to run longer. Any ideas will be helpful or any advice on how to get this car on the road to recovery would be greatly appreciated. Thanks

If it sat for that long, the gas that was in the tank is old. You should drive it until the tank is completely empty, maybe even take it to a station so they can get all the gas out of the tank. Then you can fill it with fresh gas.
