Help with 2000 Jetta GLX VR6 Auto-Dimming Rear View Mirror Replacement
My 2000 Jetta GLX VR6 has the auto-dimming rear view mirror as well as the windshield rain sensor. The dark fluid in the mirror is leaking out and it's to the point of needing replaced.
This weekend I've been trying to track down a replacement rear view mirror. I have looked and looked and can't seem to find one online anywhere. I'm thinking I may just need to look at a junkyard.
I guess what I also don't understand is if the auto-dimming mirror is different for a car such as mine that does vs doesn't have the rain sensor? From what I see, the rain sensor is attached to the windshield, and the rear-view mirror attaches to it for those cars that have it.
I want to make sure I understand exactly what I need so I don't buy the wrong thing online if I find one and can tell the junkyard exactly what I need if that's the way I go.
Also, is my only option to replace it with a used mirror? Or are there any after-market mirrors that work in my car without modification(s)?
Does someone have a good write-up they could point me to so I can learn how to replace this mirror and understand what needs to be done?
Thanks in advance.
Gerry
