Default Emission light - Jetta TDI

The emission light is staying on my 2006 Jetta TDI with 25,000 miles on it. I drove it 400+ miles yesterday with no problems. Today, the emission system warning light won't go off. What do I do now? It's running great - no backfires. Do I dare drive it to work?

It's fine to drive. You just need to get the computer scanned to see what the problem is. You can get it done for free at most parts stores. If it's running fine you really don't need to get it fixed until you have to pass emissions in your state if you have emissions standards or if you just want the light off.

Smile Fixed it

Thanks for your help.

Since the Jetta is stilll under warranty, I took it into the dealer. They replaced a glow plug. The light is out and staying out... For now anyway...
