Default Electrical Problems w/2006 Jetta

Just got this 2006 Jetta Value Edition used. Tonight I parked the car, turned-off the ignition and pulled out the key. When I opened the door, I was greeted with a alarm that tells you your headlight were left on. I got out and noticed the front driver's side headlight, side marker and tailight was on. Just the driver's side! Tried restarting and turning off again with no effect. I pulled out the manual and found out there were 2 fuse boxes. The one in the engine compartment had two 40 amp fuses. One turned off the front and then the other took care of the back. Unfortunately, I couldn't start the car with them out. I put them both back and those lights kept coming on. I figured, lets get it started, put it in garage and then I would have to pull those fuses out again. When I got into the garage the problem went away! I'll visit the dealer tomorrow but wanted to know your thoughts. Thanks.

You are right. When I got to the dealer he also said
that it's a European Light Standard.( If you ask me,
the Battery Manufacturer's had a hand in it too!)
Pulling the fuses, though, he said would have created
Error Codes on the OBDII so he had them cleared.
It shows you how out of date I am since my last
car is a 1996 Jetta Trek! That was an amazing
car that I'm selling and it has 218,500 miles and
still doesn't burn a drop of Castrol Syntex yet!
Thanks for replying.
