Its a 2001 VR6 Jetta. Its having problems starting after running the AC. Took it to a dealer 18 months ago and they said it was an elecrical issue and an item needed to be replaced but didn't have to be done at that time. Didn't get it done. It was fine for a year or so. Do not rememebr what the item was.

It has a new battery and starter. It had the issue again today and would not start even after it cooled down. Voltage across the battery terminals is 12.56 V. I disconnected the postive battery cable for about 5 minutes, reconnected and it started.

It sounds like an error code is being cleared in the ECU. Does any one have any ideas? What to do? What was the part to replace?
