Car shakes during acceleration, 02 auto jetta
I am trying to figure out what is wrong with this. I am pretty sure it is the driver side axle. The car shakes really bad from the driver side wheel. It mostly does it when you hit the gas. When the car is in neutral the vibrating seems to stop. The funny part is i had this same problem over a year ago and it was the axle...I just can't see this being the same thing again.
also i am having a tranny problem. When the car is shifting into second gear it revs up then begins to catch and then revs up again before shifting into 3rd gear. I hope i don't need a rebuild but it seems that way. once in a great while the tranny light will come on and it will shift extremely hard. I am not too good with autos soo i am clueless. any help on both of these problems would be great. thanks, Ron

Well, since it stops when out of gear it is your inner cv joint or joints. The question is why it went out so fast. My guess would be there is a problem with your final drive in the differential. If that is the case it won't be a cheap fix. Jack up the car and have it in neutral and you could spin the wheels and watch the inner cv joints and see if they wobble or catch. Let me know how it goes.
