I have a 92 Jetta Wolfsburg Edition with a 1.8L 8v. What do you suggest I do to fix it up for racing and what should i do first?

 

Welcome! First, befoee you ever mod anything, fix what is wrong with the car. You may mod the car but if you don't fix things that are wrong, or broken, than you won't have a car to mod for too long. When choosing parts, you gotta know what best serves you.
Second, here's what I do to every car I get before I look into heavy mods:
1)cold intake
2)cat-back exhaust w/ high-flow cat
3)underdrive pulley kit
4)GIAC chip...this depends on what car, and what the purpose of getting this is.

Since you already have a turbo, you're gonna have to upgrade what you have, so it may be a little easier on the wallet, as for me I have to start from scratch. Just do a lil research first.

 

Is the cold air intake better? what pros does it do for the car? I also looked a bit on the internet about the underdrive pulley kit and I could find it for the 1.8T and 2L 2LT. My car at the moment is only a 1.8 non-turbo but i'm thinking about swapping for a td or a 2L. What do you think i should do?

 

a 1.8 non turbo?? OH man that ****ty!! I would just start at getting the cold air intake, but if I would sell it if you want to mod it. If I had to absolutely have the car, I would start with the intake and exhaust, set it up for the turbo like fuel pump, injectors, items needed to make the turbo run perfect. It's gonna take a lot of money, sorry.

 

haha yeah I know, I was thinking should i sell it and buy a jetta with a turbo already in it or should i try to fix up this one... looks like a lot of work is going to be to done to it... although i will be doing a lot of the work myself (my Dad is a volkswagen specialist) and i can get like a lot of the parts at wholesale or cheaper...

 

another thing i have heard of is swapping the headwith the 16v, they make a kit to do it www.bahnbrenner .com apperently it makes good power

 

How well is your dad connected? How much cheaper are we talking? I'm getting ready to dump a bunch of money into the car and it's looking like $6000 but if I can get it for cheaper I'd like to.

 

you live in salt lake city though right? I'm over in Vancouver! Well, I talked to my dad, and about 7 grand has been put into my car, and I'm taking it for 3 grand. So cost shouldn't be too bad i dont think.
