99 Jetta 2.0 Fuel Problem
Ok here's the deal. I had my 99 jetta 2.0 sitting for about 2 months in Florida, when I got here, it was dead and below 1/4 a tank, I put a new bat. in it and it ran no problem. I drove it to the store and filled it up with gas and then it shut off. I got a can of starter fluid and it would start only while I was spraying into the tube, so I knew it was a fuel problem. I had tripple A bring it to a guys shop near the store. Well, I drove 2 hours away to "Lokey VW" and picked up a $240 fuel pump and $20 Filter becuase that was the "issue", and the guy puts it in for $100. Well, it still isn't running. The guy said that the fuel pump was the problem and that he put power to the old one and got nothing so there's another issue. He says it's a fuse or something he can't find untill he hooks it to his computer. If you know what this might be or if a fuse would even have an effect on the fuel pump, i'd be very very thankful.

RE: 99 Jetta 2.0 Fuel Problem
We used to "jump" the pump while in the car using a battery in the back seat to see if it would start. If it did then it was power getting there and usually it was the relay. Also, I'm not sure about these "newer" models, but there used to be a 2nd pump inside the tank! Not sure if they still do that
