hey yall i have a 2003 jetta wagon 2.0 liter that quit on me this week, it has just under 50k miles on it, no problems before it hasn't been driven much recently as i've been in college, but made it about a 1k miles a few months ago with no problems other than the engine light coming on a couple weeks after.. i asked my family's mechanic back home and he said it was fine to drive on just that i wouldn't pass emissions..

so i was driving the other day and my interior lights and headlights went almost completely out the radio died, and then my car sputtered and went out completely.

I got it jumped once, and it ran a bit with the lights still dim, then died out again.. then i had it jumped from one of those portable 100$ jumpers, and it starts up fine but just dies out... there may have been some slight rattling sound as well... so the starter seems fine, and the battery is less than a year old..

alternator?? i think i'm going to take it out and get it tested, what else do you think any advice?? thanks!

 

Yeah , sound like the alternator. But, first get it tested...
