2002 Jetta 1.8T Wagon Shifting
Hello,
While looking for a car for my wife we came across a 2002 Jetta 1.8T wagon that is in pretty nice shape with about 60k miles on it. I'll qualify this by saying that I've driven pretty much nothing but a V8 truck for years and have very little experience with V4 engines. When I drove this Jetta it seemed a little odd going through the 1st three gears when starting from a stop. It seemed to go from 1st to 2nd very quickly and then would hesitate for a second or two and rev up to about 3000 rpm before jumping into 3rd. Is this normal? Is this just the turbo spooling up? There wasn't any noise or gridning when shifting, just the high rpm's and slight hesitation.
Thanks,
Mike
