Car will be running perfectly for 2, 3 sometimes 4 weeks then all of a sudden it loses power (feels like it's out of gas, even though the tank is plenty full). Often the car will not restart and I have to gimp it over to the side of the road. Typically if I wait 15-20 minutes it restarts and acts as if nothing was ever wrong. I have taken it to several mechanics--one even thought it was the fuel pump which ended up setting me back over $600 yet the problem still exists. Now my regular mechanic is out of guesses and suggested taking it to the dealer (sigh). The difficultly here is when they give my car a diagnostic test the car acts perfectly fine, so they cannot tell what's wrong.
A few of my non-mechanic, gear head friends suggested it may be the plugs, cables, or ignition coil. The car has 102,000 miles and I replaced the plugs at 80,000. My mechanic seems to thing it's not the plugs. It's a very frustrating problem. Any guesses/suggestions???
Thanks,
James
