Default 2001 Jetta has weird signal sound from dash

The symptom is, sometimes when I drive on the road, a continuous 'ding-ding-ding-ding.....' sound suddenly comes up. It sounds like the safty belt alarm but my belt is buckled. I found it's more likely to happen when the car slightly bumped on something or had a sharp turn. The sound will go off later after several minutes (varying from time to time).

Any idea? Is it normal or something is wrong? Thanks.

ORIGINAL: emagdnim

i took my VW to a dealer because i had received a letter saying there was a recall. When i got there they checked it out said that there were a couple other recalls one of which was the blinker switch so they fixed everything for free and now my blinker is completely different noise so they obviously changed the whole thing out. i'm fairly sure that this is your problem... call up the nearest VW dealer and they should look/fix it for free.

Good luck

Thanks for the input. Last December when I had my water pump changed at the dealer I did ask them about recalls, but they told me all the recalls on my car have been done. I bought my car used, so have no trace of those maitainence history.
