2000 GLS Engine light issues
Hey all, I got a 2000 jetta GLS auto, 2.0L. This is my first vw and i was wondering... when i turn the key on and leave it in the on position, no engine light is alluminated? Just the battery. Is this normal for these generation vdubs? Is there any way I can fix this? (maybe someone before me pulled a light from behind the dash or cut some wires?)
Also I have scanned the car and no codes or dtc's came up and seems to be running great, so no concerns there. Also only has 170kms, which is very under-drivin for 12 years according to the average 20k per year.
Heres an old top gear episode I found with a fourth gen gti... check it out.
Old Top Gear VW Golf GTi Vs Fiat Bravo HGT Vs Peugeot 306 GTi-6 - YouTube
Pause at 46 seconds in the vid and you'll too see that there is no engine light in this one also.
All the help and answers would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

Thanks. Any idea what fuse controlls the engine light indicator? or what wires I should be inspecting? Its missing the cover on the right side of the dash and I dont have a owners manual... I know this car may have spelt bad news when I was looking at it, but hey its in gret shape and its a VW right lol
