Hi, i am new at this forum and i've been having the clicking noise in my engine.

Its like a clicking/knocking sound. it seems that its comin from the front right front side of the car. It only does itwhen its idle, it's also been doin it while driving at a really slow speed. Can anyone tell me what might be wrong with this. thanks

I have the same situation coming from the passenger side fender

 

I think it's just what's called pinging. Nothing to worry about. Try the highest octane you can get that might fix it. My car does it too.

 

you shouldnt get ping at idle
might be a lifter or something in the belt area
have your oil changed first

 

I found my clicking sound. It is the canister purge valve. And is located in front of the coolant reservoir in the middle if the power steering reservoir and the fender. Check it you too and see if this is the problem. By the way does anyone know or have any documen or pdf or something about a 1999-2005 jetta workshop manual or at least an write up on how to change the clutch myself?

 

I'd suggest going to alldatadiy.com It's just 15 bucks. Changing a clutch is quite a task.
