Default 1003 Jetta GL 2.0 knocking under the hood.

Hey This is my fifth day with the car and I been noticing a knocking when the engine is running. I tougth it was a rod knock but it comes from the passenger side fender. If i lay my hand in the fender I can feel knocks and if I lay my hand in the other fender or in any other part of the engine bay I feel nothing it in the passenger side fender. If I put my ear I can clearly hear metals hitting. I dont think is a rod knock cause it is not consistent. It doesnt knock all the time. I also get near my crank and I hear nothing from there just from the fender. If I rev the engine the knock frequency rises too. If I shut down the engine the knock quickly quits even before the engine totally stop revving. It cranks ok but after a while the knock starts messing. My guess is what it could be a broken suspension link or a bad engine mount. But there are many other posibilities like valves , injector or even rods. What do you people think?

Sounds to me like a bad knock sensor.

Maybe.... something I forgot to mention is that from inside the car and from the fendr it sounds like a knock but with the hood opened and reaching my ear near the fender, just below the power steering and coolant reservoir I can hear like clicking sounds or electrical sparks sounds.

It's hard to diagnose sounds without hearing them. The electrical noise could be the failed knock sensor. Is the knocking a severe clunking or more like a tapping or ping? If it's what's called pinging it happens to the best of us. The only suggestion I could make then is higher octane gas. I use 93 octane and even tried the best octane booster you can buy and I still get pinging.

I keep researching and I find the source. It is a valve called the canister purge valve. it is clikcing all arround. Is this bad is this the reason of my check engine?

I'd say it is the reason for your check engine light. It's not serious but it's necessary. It will bring up trouble codes for emissions. And you would have erratic vacuum pressures more than likely.
