1998 Jetta Trans. Problems
I just bought a 1998 Jetta GLS that delays in drive and reverse, and recently began having trouble getting from 2nd to 3rd gear (it's an automatic). Once I get to the point where it should shift into third gear, it feels like i hit a big burst of wind while my motor sits at 3000 rpm's for a good 2 seconds and then shifts fairly abruptly into 3rd gear. I've been to 3 different places, including Lee Myles, and I've gotten 3 different opinions on it. Has anybody experienced this problem before or have any suggestions on it? PLEASE let me know. I'm a high school student and I don't want to rebuild the tranny if i don't have to. Thanks

RE: 1998 Jetta Trans. Problems
Tell you what, go get yourself a transmission flush done on it, then while they are doing that, have them or you look up in there, see if anything's wrrong, cracked, missing, broken , distorted. Trans flushes don't cost that much, they're good for your vehicle, and it may in fact fix it. But start simple, go get that done, and let me know what happens.
