Default 08 Jetta Replacement Key question

I have an 08 Jetta SE 2.5. I would like to get a spare key for my fiancee to use. Doesnt necessarily have to have the fob with the keyless entry and all. What is the best way to go about this? It's ridculous that getting spare keys made these days is such a hassle. Thanks for any help!

But without a fob she won't be able to start it. I believe you can get keys cut online from your VIN number but then you would have to programme the key which is a dealer job or you buy VAG TACHO to find the SKC and programme the key, the choice is yours.

Thanks! See, I was thinking I could just get a valet key cut, and that would suffice for her, but perhaps not then?

So you just want her to get in the car not run it?

Well if they can cut keys online just get a spare key cut, valet or otherwise.

So a valet key only unlocks the car, but doesn't run it? What is the point of that?

I thought the valet key was a single blade that doesn't start the engine but it appears it does. "Valet" key with immob. chip - does it exist?

Yes but you still have to programme this key and you'll need the SKC to do this. On an 08 Jetta I'm not sure if VAG TACHO will do these so its a dealer job.
