puff of smoke during shifting
Hi folks,
I am the proud owner of a candy white 2006 mkIv. I have about 2000 miles on it, the other day when my brother was following me in his own 2006 MkIv (only way he could keep up) he noticed that my car emmits a puff of smoke during hard acceleration shifting. We suspect it has something to do with the turbo compression that lets go during shifting. Anyone know anything about this?

Not alot, just enough to see. I just asked because I want to keep this car till the paint melts off, wanna make sure its not doing anything its not supposed to. This blow off valve, what cause it to open? I never take it over 4500 rpm when I accelerate

what color is the smoke? Is it Turbo, or non? If its turbo, and depending on how much boost your running, could determine what is causing smoke. If its balck then it's just carbing up your motor, and where is the smoke coming from?? IF the smoke is coming from the exhaust, it's NOT your blowoff. When you go to shift, keep your foot on the floor, dump the clutch and shift as fast as you can without missing gears, and see if the smoke is still coming out. I know it sounds crazy, but it will determine if your blowoff valve realeases crazy, you're prolly just running rich.
