Default Fuel filter change without VAGcom

2011 JSW TDI due for the second fuel filter change @ 40K would like to do it myself but I do not have the capability to run the fuel pumps other than jumping them with 12V.

I recall reading somewhere that a fella simply topped off the filter housing with fuel prior to reassembly and fired up the engine without incident.

Thoughts, comments, experience, tips ???

Thank you.

I changed my first fuel filter at 20k a few weeks ago but I have VCDS.

My GTD Fuel Filter Change - VW TDI forum and Audi TDI forum - myturbodiesel.com

You can fill the filter container with as much clean diesel as you can get in before you screw the top back on and it should run and clean any excess air out.

VCDS is the best tool you will ever buy for a VAG vehicle consider the investment.
