Default Reddish Brown leak GTI 1.8 Turbo

Hi - I am new to the forum. I have an '03 GTI 1.8 and noticed a large leak yesterday. It was a reddish-brown fluid and I noticed that their is a round container under engine hood (next to windshield washer fluid container) which is now empty. does anyone know what this is?

Sounds like antifreeze. Have you checked your coolant levels since this happened?

yes no coolant left. car is in for service and they confirmed it is the coolant system but they have yet to find the problem. something about a pressure test that was inconclusive -still waiting to hear back - hope it is not too expensive

Well this reddish-brown fluid could be coolant it would depend on which anti-freeze was used, the newer G13 is orange.

A cooling system pressure test will find any leaks in the cooling system.
