Default asr problem

i just bought this 2002 gti 1.8t.sometimes while accelerating the car shakes irraticallyand the asr light blinks. this happend twice and both times the asr was not turned on. any ideas? i got a warranty but i want to make sure it gets fixed right before the warranty runs out. im not into mechanics guessing.

ASR is the traction control doohicky. when you start the car its automatically on. if you push the asr button on the dash you can turn it off and do burnouts all if you feel the need. but when you turn it OFF the light comes on, and if you have it ON and the tires try to break loose it will try to keep it from doing so and jump like that. try driving without it on, its totally different.
good luck

what he said. i hate pushing that button whenever i start the car, when i when to the drag strip i forgot to turn it off, and it was not fun, but ya you shakiness is normal, its just your traction control in action.
