I have a 2001 GTI.

My problem just began tonight, I have no problems with it starting, but I can sit in neutral and give it gas and sometimes nothing at all happens. Sometimes it will rev but shakily and never above 2500 RPMs. Earlier today I had no issues whatsoever. Also I can be in idle and without me touching the gas it will rev up to about 2000 RPMs all by itself. The only changes that have happened in the last 48 hours is that it had an 90 point inspection (I just bought it) and I put a new battery and air filter in.
