About a month ago, I purchased my first volks. Its a 2001 golf with a 2.0L manual transmission, abs. My question is kinda weird. At start up, all the warning lights come on when I turn the key, as they should, but I don't see a check engine light or an abs light. On any other car that I have driven, these lights come on at start-up. I don't have an owners manual, so maybe these lights are represented by something else. Anyway, is this normal for a golf, and maybe these lights come on just when there is a problem, or maybe they could be burned out because they were on for the previous owner.
