Hi guys

The wiper blades on my 2001 VW Golf 1.6SE have stopped working properly. It's really weird. They move little by little. It's not like they've stopped moving, but they move a bit at a time and they freeze for around 20 seconds, then they move a little more. I got home just when the rain starting pouring!!
Oh and the 'Emissions Workshop' light has come on.

Any ideas? SHould I apply any lubricant on the motor for the wipers?
