Hello all,

I have a 2003 Golf GL (Automatic) and have had something happen repetitively in the same place time and time again and never anywhere else.

When I leave work I have to stop on a downhill in oder to enter a busy street. I feel the car shift into first and then its like it drops out of gear? I give it a VERY small tap of the gas and I feel it roll over... if you do anything more than that it slams into gear... If I let my foot off of the brake it will roll, but it is not in gear.

I have never had it happen anywhere else... anyone know of an answer?

I had my transmission fluid checked and its fine... perhaps a bad filter??

 

It def sounds like bands or clutches are slipping out of gear.
