Talking Throttle Body sensor fault code - Please help!!!

Hi Guys,

I have a golf mk3 auto 1.8. The car had difficulty starting when the engine was cold. After a diagnostic i was told that it was the throttle body sensor. This was changed. But after a couple of days the problem came back - cold start problems - but the car is fine when the engine warms up.

The error codes I get from a vagcom are;

Address 02: Auto Trans
1 Fault Found:
00518 - Throttle Position Sensor (G69)
16-10 - Signal Outside Specifications - Intermittent

Address 01: Engine
00515 - Camshaft Position (Hall) Sensor (G40)
03-00 - No Signal

Address 01: Engine
00516 - Closed Throttle (Idle) Position Switch (F60)
30-00 - Open or Short to Plus

I cannot do a throttle body alignment as I only have the shareware version of the vagcom software.

Some forums have indicated that is could be the main earth lead on gearbox, or a broken wire in the wiring loom that sits on top of starter motor??????????

any ideas!!!?????
