'01 manual Golf's been sitting for 3 months. Started it up about 2 weeks ago (it's winter now) and have been driving it ever since, but still hard to change gears.

Shifting gears is very sticky....it used to be that being in neutral was very loose and coming out of any gear, neutral was easy to find. Now, getting into 3rd gear is nerve wracking because it's hard to tell where neutral is to begin with. Changing into all gears is very stiff.

We've recently towed this car 1,500kms. It feels as though it's gucked up and needs oil, but my husband who's done most of the work on our car doesn't know where he'd even access the area that would need some oil though since it's a covered unit.

Anyone have any insight?
