I have a 1989 golf, and I have been hearing a squeaking noise that sounds like it is coming from somewhere near the front axle on the driver side. I took the wheel off and the outer CV boot was leaking. I replaced to whole CV left axle, but the noise is still there. It was time to replace that axle anyhow, but I'm getting concerned about what could happen if I don't find the cause of the sound. The noise will go away momentarily when I put the brakes on lightly. Any thoughts, or questions to clarify this problem would be greatly appreciated!
