rack & pinion removal

I'm needing to replace the rack in the wifes gti, can anyone tell me how to disconect the stearing from the rack?

i would definetly say either buy a shop manual for the car on ebay or go to the library and just make photo copies of the pages you need, to make sure it gets done correctly
