The keyless system works, all the dash lights work except for the glow plug light. There is no current at the fuel pump. It can't be the key as even the spare key does not start the car. I have always kept my cars going for more than 50 years, but I am stumped, can someone help an old petrol head. R

 

I'd say it's a fuse or your fuel pump relay.

 

Thank you, it appears that it is the main relay that has failed. It took the VW technician 4 hrs to diagnose. Outch will be expensive. R

 

That's some speedy mechanic. It would have taken me about 20 min.
