Help! Golf has demons!
My son has a 2000 Golf GLS 2.0L 4 door hatchback. Bought used about 5 yrs ago. No modifications. The car is possessed by demons. Out of the blue the following has occurred:
1 Remote key will not lock/unlock doors. awaiting batteries to see if that is issue.
2 Automatic windows (all) will not work from interior. Using key in exterior lock they go up/down fine.
3 Interior dome lights inop
4 Power side mirrors inop

Here's the real kicker:
5 With nothing on, no key in ignition. If I turn on the headlights a steady clicking sound starts from somewhere under the steering column BUT
also has same synchronized clicking coming from the
rear hatch!!! Turn off headlights clicking stops. Headlights are normal while the clicking occurs.
I'm at a total loss and wouldnt know where to begin. Anyone heard of such a thing before? Any ideas?

Welcome to the forum. 
You need to get your motor scanned (preferably with VAG-COM\VCDS) for any error codes logged in the ecu and post them, that will save a lot of guessing.
