Default Golf MK3 1996 model TDI 1.9 Drain battery

Hi, hope someone can help me.

I have a Golf MK3 1996 model TDI 1.9

Something is draining the battery, even when it is fully charged up by the alternator. After not driving the car for about 2 days, I will not be able to start the car again as the battery has been drained completely. This has happened ever since we had some snow and a very cold snap. Not to sure if the battery is defective or not, but if the battery was the issue, surely the alternator would not charge it back up.

Also I have a problem with the light indictor noise not working. Everyime I open the door with the light on, there is no sound. It use to make a buzzing noise.

Help please!!!!

I think it is the battery. You could get it tested but, I had a similar situation and my battery tested good and I replaced it anyway and it solved my problem. The alternator can still charge a failing battery. If it is something else it is very time consuming trying to find whats draining the battery if you can find out at all. As for your door buzzer, if you replace the light switch, that would take care of it.

Thanks for the reply. I recon I will try and get the battery tested this weekend to see what state it is in.

With regards to the light switch, I think you might have missunderstood me. The problem is with the buzzer that warns you not to leave your head light or parking light on. It use to make a buzzing noise everytime the door is opened with the head light on but has ceased. It might be that I missunderstood you, sorry if I have.

thanks for the help!!!

Yeah, it is the headlight switch. I've never heard of a failed buzzer.
