Angry 2008 city golf 2.0 crank no start no spark

Was driving car and signal lights didn't work neither did the emergency flasher did a little research and found out it is all in one module in the emergency flasher unit. pulled off flasher and tested for power and there was, so going to buy new flasher. Tried to start the car and it just turned over and not started. Jumped in other car got part and installed and it fixed the signals. Still no start so I checked the fuses and all good. pulled off spark plug wire and no spark. I tested for power to my ignition coil on the 6 pin connector and nothing no power. I then checked for power on my ignition switch and there is power. I ensured that I had the right wire from my switch to my coil connector by doing a loop test and found the wire. I have 11.7V at the switch end but nothing at the coil end. But if I turn over the engine the V drop to 0. I jumper power to this wire and the headlights came on. This is where I am stuck. Does the wire go directly from switch to coil or to somewhere else?

I have 11.7V at the switch end but nothing at the coil end. But if I turn over the engine the V drop to 0. I jumper power to this wire and the headlights came on. This is where I am stuck. Does the wire go directly from switch to coil or to somewhere else?

11.7v is low have you charged the battery or have it checked?

You need the ignition switch checking out if it drops to 0v. It depends if its a ballasted ignition system that runs with a resister in circuit. When you start the engine you get a full 12v feed to the ignition coil to aid starting. When it starts it runs through a resister to drop the voltage to around 6v.
