2001 golf 2.0 questions

Alright i have a 2001 golf 2.0. I originally wanted a GTI but i settled with what i could find. I'm wondering how much trouble it would be to put a 5 speed or possibly a 6 speed? in it and to turbo it. I'm new to this stuff so feel free to help me out. I know just getting a GTI or an R32 would be much simpler, but getting rid of my current car isnt an option. any ideas?

I heard that putting a turbo on a 2.0 isnt a good idea. The engine isnt built to handle it. It can be done but it takes alot.

I know next to nothing about trannys. There is a few guys on here that know about that kinda stuff andcan give you a straight answer though. Sorry i cant help you there.

From what i heard though the Golf is a good car, i would hold on to it just for the gas milage, Volkswagen resale value sucks anyway

yeah it gets good fuel mileage.. im just wanting to get it away from stock ya know. like a cold air intake and the tranny and maybe a software upgrade i dont know.
