Default New Cabrio Owner! (needing help)

Hey, I'm new to the world of VW. My husband and I bought a 1999 Cabrio over the weekend. It needs some help, to be blunt it's a P.O.S, BUT! it's our pos. The frame is good, and the engine starts (now), and so that's a good start.

We spent all yesterday trying to get the car to get a spark. Replaced the Coil and installed a new camshaft sensor (which was the issue) It'll start up now but it's having issues idling.

The Car had been sitting 6 months with no gas, so we're suspecting the fuel filter is gunked up maybe.

Unless someone has some better input on what might cause a cabrio to not idle.

We have a litany of other items to fix as well, but for now step one is to get her running.

Its nice to see you added your car to your signature, you could have added Golf as there are a few cabriolet's.

Is a Golf the same as a Cabrio? Like make and model? Or are they just very similar that no one minds the difference (like jeep TJ and jk wrangles or so on). Or are you meaning I should post in the golf forum section since this one is slow and not often used?

About the signature - I enjoy being able the track progress on fixing up the car, when it's all done its fun to look back and go "well dang it really looked like that!?" I see you have your car in yours as well

They made the cabriolet in a few models if you Google them?

You just call your 1999 VW Cabrio, the picture is a Golf.

the vin look up says - Cabrio GLS. so I figured that's what it was? I'm new to VW in general I tried to google the cars but it's really convoluted. So it's a Golf Cabrio GLS!

It's all really interesting to learn about. I've got a distributor coming today and if that isn't it I'll check the gaping on my plugs and wires.
