new GTI owner, new to VW, having fun driving
New to the site, new to VW, took the plunge and bought a brand new GTI this month (March 2012). Been building up for this for awhile...saving up for a few years, spending those savings on having a kid, paying off my fun 2005 Focus (not as fun as this GTI), building $ back up, having another kid, now able to blow my current tax check on a down payment for a car I've been wanting since 2002.
Still getting used to the rhythm of the clutch; been driving around my manual Focus for nearly 8 years, and the car is still in brilliant condition even at 98k miles and now with touring tires. But, the GTI just screams, "drive me!". Both my wife and I have been "conveniently" forgetting items at the grocery store just so we have an excuse to drive it again...and it is not just because it is a new car.
I still feel I have a lot to learn since this is the closest thing to a car that you could buy on Gran Turismo that I have ever owned. Thinking of naming her Kruger, after Diane Kruger
