Default How to drive my Cabrio; trunk question

Recently purchased 98 Cabrio and am enjoying it very much so far. I have 3 questions the owner's manual couldn't
help me with:

1) For fuel-efficient driving, the manual says "upshift as soon as possible". Can anyone be more specific? I've been upshifting
at about 2500RPM, but I'm open to suggestions. The manual does say to downshift about 1500RPM.

2) When slowing down using engine braking, if I'm in gear and I take my foot off the accelerator, does this car shut off the fuel supply like some cars do? This makes engine braking very efficient.

3) I could have sworn I fiddled with the trunk lock in such a way as to allow it to be opened without the key. Is this possible? If so,
how? I can't seem to reproduce it, and the owner's manual implies it's possible, but following their implication doesn't work.

Thanks in advance for any ideas you can give me.

I know, I'm replying to my own post, but ... I left out some information: my engine is the 4-cylinder gasoline engine.

Anyone have any suggestions?

SwedishGP and JTrailer, thank you for your replies. Two things:

1) I figured out the trunk now, with JTrailer's help. This isn't documented in the owner's manual. If the trunk key slot is vertical, the only way to open the trunk, ever, is with the key. If the trunk key slot is horizontal (by turning it 90 degrees to the left and removing the key), and if the car's main locking system is unlocked, then you can open the trunk without the key.

2) Still not sure about an answer to my original question #2: When slowing down using engine braking, if I'm in gear and I take my foot off the accelerator, does this car shut off the fuel supply like some cars do? This makes engine braking very efficient.

Thanks again!

The fuel is shut off until you reach idle rpm.
