Default Codes

I recently bought a '01 cabrio. While checking the codes I get a 1296 code which doesn't appear in the code chart. What's the story?

An error code with out description isn't much use.

You need to get your motor scanned (preferably with VAG-COM\VCDS) for any error codes logged in the ecu and post them, that will save a lot of guessing.

The closest code that I have is:

VAG Error Code: 01296

Fault Location:
Sensor for Vent Temperature: Centre (G191) - Open Circuit/Short Circuit to Earth/Short Circuit to Positive

Possible Cause:
Fuse(s).
Wiring/Connector(s).
Sensor for Vent Temperature: Centre (G191).

Possible Solutions:
Check/Replace Fuse(s).
Check/Replace all faulty Wiring/Connector(s).
Read Measuring Value Blocks (MVB).

Thanks for answering my question. I could find no description of the code. That's why I asked.
