Default Alarm

Can anybody help me with my dilemma? I set off the alarm in my VW cabrio.
The battery in my key is empty and I can't reset the alarm. Is there a way to reset the alarm without a key? Currently I just disconnected the car battery.
Help would be appreciated.Thanks.

If you leave the battery disconnected for a night your ecu should have reset itself or you can do it faster by disconnecting both battery cables and hold them together for a couple of minutes. When you get a new battery for your key see general tech for how to program it.

Thanks racerxoo2. I had the battery disconnected over night, but reconnecting it in the morning set the alarm off again. After this I phoned the VW dealer and he told me to put the key in the door lock and turn it as if I want to open the door. Simple but effective. "If you know it"!
Thanks any way.
