Default 2001 Cabrio - Over Heating

Hi All!! Need some suggestions.

Car wouldn't start when it rained or got wet so I changed the ignition coil, now it starts every time. BUT now the check engine light is on and it's over heating. I've made sure there was plenty of coolant and the fan works. Strange thing is the car stops over heating when I turn on the AC. Any ideas where I should start now??? Thanks

Get your thermostat checked or replaced.

You need to get your motor scanned (preferably with VAG-COM\VCDS) for any error codes logged in the ecu and post them, that will save a lot of guessing.
