I picked up an 02 Cabrio last week, pevious owner replaced the battery drove it a few miles and it died and wouldn't start back. I've been over everything, it all works except no signal to coil from ECU. The injectors pulse, so I would imagine that the crank sensor is good, the fuel pump runs as it should, I replaced the coolant temp sensor because I thought it may have been the issue and tried another ECU and still no spark signal. I've also consulter with the local VW dealer and euro specalists and they said I checked or tried everything they would have. Also the gauge cluster isn't working either, all the lights work just no gauges. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

That could be a number of things. You need to get your motor scanned (preferably with VAG-COM\VCDS) for any error codes logged in the ecu and post them, that will save a lot of guessing.
