If boost is increased on turbo beetle, would the ecu have to be remapped?

If boost is increased on turbo beetle, would the ecu have to be remapped?
I'm looking to increase the psi on my turbo beetle, but I do not know if simply adjusting the boost controller will do this. Since it comes stock turbo, will hte ecu adjust? Or will it have to be remapped for me to increase boost?
