Default automatic door locks

2000 Beetle. Not mine. Belongs to a friend. She found out the hard way that her doors lock automatically when the doors get closed. Her keys are now locked in the car. Is there a way to de-activate this feature of auto locking doors? [][:@] Nope, she doesn't have a spare key.

Default RE: automatic door locks

Go to a dealer with the VIN number and have them make a new key. Something is wrong with the system, it should not autolock unless the vehicle is moving about 12mph in drive. If it has been unlocked with both the doors opened and then closed it should not autolock. If the passenger door is opened too long without the driver door opened the alarm will sound as part of the anti-theft system. Everything is controlled by the comfort system central control module. When the car is opened also check the central locking/anti-theft fuse to see if it is blown; could be sending a wrong signal to the control unit that the car is in motion. I know this does not solve the immediate situation, but I hope this will help in the future.
