Default 74 super beetle dies.. self fixing..fuel issue?

my mom just bought a 74 super beetle.during driving some times,it bogs down like its lost power, replaced the fuel pump and filter, still happens.no ryme to reason why or when.Im thinking maybe a float issue in the carb?when it happens it idles fine,as you give it gas it acts like its flooding out.shut it off.wait 10 min or so..then drive it allday long.....maybe....

hmm....if you can, clean that carb...it sounds like there's pieces of dirt being sucked
up into the jet, might be settling down at the bottom of the bowl when the car is off.

Especially a 74....definitely could use a clean carb, car will run better overall.

also, adjust the carb itself before taking it apart, make sure the mixture is just
right...seems to be, but you never know.
