Default 2001 turbo cylinder misfire

i'm getting P0301, cylinder 1 misfire. when it started (i was not driving) my friend checked the oil and it was bone dry. naturally i fear the worst. about to take it in tomorow, just wondering what to expect. in the last 5 months i've had the timing belt, water pump, and radiator changed. i was told by a shucks employee that there was a 99% chance that it was ONLY a spark plug problem. i don't believe him hahah, but supposedly other than that it could be the wires or the distributor. any ideas?

no distibutor no wires
it hase coils for each cylinder and they go bad all the time
fill up your oil first
