I'm considering restoring an '81 Mk1 and I'm wondering if anyone knows what my engine options are in terms of latest year and size. It has the original 1.7 litre/8 valve in it now, but it needs work and it's got me thinking. Can I put a Mk2 engine in or, if I can't find an original Scirocco engine could I put a Golf or Jetta unit in without much difficulty? Thanks.
