I'm Steve, and I just purchased my third Voilkswagen and my second Golf. I had a 1972 Beetle and a 2000 GOlf GL. I can't get over all of the cool technological features in my new car, and I hope everyone here will be able to explain them as I break my new car in.

Well on a 2000 Golf there aren't that much computer electronics compared with current ones Steve.

Well to deal with most thing electronic wise on a VAG vehicle you really need to get VAG-COM\VCDS.

Well it is at £260 it is a little bit but its the best tool you can buy for a VAG vehicle. There are cheap Chinese clones on eBay but its pot luck if they work.

I treated myself last Christmas from ilexa or there is Gendan, put one on your Christmas list?

Looking at the VCDS Compatibility Charts you should be ok.

Or even an HEX, KEY\KII Interface but you don't see many genuine cables for sale.
