Default air bag warning light on 2008 city golf

Hopefully there's a simple explanation for the fact that my airbag warning light suddenly lit up the other day and is always on when I drive now.

It has never been deployed, no big bumps or jarring has occurred... just continues to light up.

Any guidance out there for things I can do to find out if it's a little thing and not a big "take it to the mechanic" type of thing?

Thanks.

beep, beep.

Welcome to the forum.

You need your motor scanning for any error code logged in the ecu, that will save alot of guessing.

Hi Keith.
Thanks for your advice. I guess I'll have to break down and go see the pros as I don't have those kinds of diagnostic tools in my possession or in my head!
Also, I've added my basic car info in my signature.
cheers
