Hopefully there's a simple explanation for the fact that my airbag warning light suddenly lit up the other day and is always on when I drive now.

It has never been deployed, no big bumps or jarring has occurred... just continues to light up.

Any guidance out there for things I can do to find out if it's a little thing and not a big "take it to the mechanic" type of thing?

if you have not got the solution still .. you are better to call upon an automobile technician and get it right

 

He needs to get his motor scanned for any error codes logged in the ecu and post them.

check on to service center for getting them repaired completely

It might just need to be reset.
